It's 2025
January: The Month You Write the Wrong Date

We finally got the snowstorm we all wanted so we can justify staying home in our pjs. Once you get caught up on your favorite streaming shows (Star Trek for me), take some time to get to know the League’s website found here!
The website is filled with a treasure trove of useful information and volunteer opportunities found here!
And those of you looking to actively help defend our democracy, our Leadership Academy is forming its first cohort now. Our organization depends on new leaders being developed, so sign up here!

Take care and stay safe.

A Word from Above
Our President Speaks

This Saturday, we begin our planning for the 2025-2026 two year election cycle. Much will change during that cycle: the entire Board of DIrectors leadership team will turn over by the end of 2026, new members will spark new ideas, and new technology will come along to help us in our work.
Read her entire remarks here!

Thank you to all our members and our leaders for the work you have done over the years. You have helped me improve the presidency in many ways and I am grateful. I look forward to seeing the continued growth with our next president.

Leadership Academy

Be a member of the first cohort of the LWVKC Leadership Academy forming now. This is a ten week program of weekly meetings at the We are looking for the next generation of leaders to volunteer to be trained.

The course will cover a single issue each week as follows:

  • Google Docs

  • Google Sheets/Forms

  • Zoom/Website (Club Express)

  • Principles of Leadership

Observer Corps 2024 Q2 Report
Eyes on Our Elected Officials

Observer Corps members attend public meetings in person or online and alert LWVKC leadership of any issues that may require action on the part of the League. We do not speak for the League, we observe on behalf of the League. The elected and appointed officials we watch know we’re there.

A Call to Action
Learn to Lead

Our new year has not started off well with violent attacks committed in the service of political radicalism leading the news. The narrative over the Jan 6, 2021 attack on the capitol has been whitewashed for political purposes. And the death of former President Jimmy Carter triggered partisan reactions over lowering the flag to honor his decades of service.
