January 2025
It Must Be Program Planning Time

The new election cycle has begun so our holiday period of rest is over. It’s time to get back to work. And that work is our Program Planning. Every two years, League members collaborate to develop a Program Plan that guides our actions through the next Congressional election cycle. The first step happened at our last members meeting, which may be found here!
The next step is up to you as a member. Once you are familiar with the process (either through attendance at our monthly meeting, or by viewing it), we ask that you review the material provided by the President through email.
Member feedback will be collected at one of the small group meetings scheduled as follows:
Sunday, Jan. 19, 1 p.m. led by Judy-Anne Goldman Zoom link here!

Wednesday, Jan. 22, 10 a.m. led by Rita Gulden Zoom link here!

Wednesday, Jan 22, 5 p.m. led by Janelle Sjue Zoom link here!

Thursday, Jan 23, 6 p.m. led by Jenise Comer Zoom link here!
A review of our Program Planning Process may be found here!
The positions taken by LWVKC, LWVMO, and LWVUS may be found here!
This is your chance to control the League’s direction. Sign up today!

Take care and stay safe.

Cross Committee Work Party

All members are invited to a work party at Anne Calvert's house to help the Board, GOTV, Membership, and Voter Registration committees with behind-the-scenes work. No prior training necessary. The work is fun and easy, we just need many hands (20 to be precise).
Afterwards, we will go out to lunch because all work and no play....is not our way. In order to track attendees, please sign up here!
(Be sure to bring you own coffee cup.)

Help Wanted
Leadership Opportunity with Vote411

It's a new year and a time for new beginnings. If you are interested in leadership opportunities with the League, consider chairing the Voter Guide/Vote411 Committee.

The Voter Guide/Vote411 Committee utilizes LWV's VOTE411 platform to publish an online voter guide for all elections in the four Missouri counties comprising Kansas City. The committee is experienced and brings a wealth of knowledge to the effort. This is a great opportunity to work with LWV Missouri and LWV’s U.S. offices. Both provide wonderful resources.

The current committee chairs plan to publish Vote411 for the April 8 local elections before stepping down, so this would be an ideal time for a new chair to learn the process and share their good ideas on how to make Vote411 even better.

Contact us if you'd like more information, or find an upcoming committee meeting here!
Please come join us.

A Look Back
Know the Numbers

Take a moment to look back on all we have accomplished together over the past year. We continue to improve our service to the voters, in part because we continue to improve our processes.

A Call to Action
Teamwork Pays Off

Like some of you (I hope), I am a Chiefs fan. So I am once again enjoying our run at Super Bowl glory for the fourth time in the last six years. And what I’ve learned about their success is that no single player wins the games. In fact, the 52 players on the roster don’t win the games. Rather, it requires the entire organization to win. Ask any player on the Chiefs about winning, and he will talk about working together.

The bottom line is that we need you to be a team player. We can’t rely on the few star players who have carried us this far. We must take our organization to the next level through TEAMWORK.

We need all of you in order for us to be successful.

Take care and stay safe.

We Want Your Blood
A Poke and a Sting to Save a Life
We know you are givers, but have you taken the time to give the gift of life? There is a tremendous need for blood donors. Two agencies collect blood in Kansas City, the American Red Cross and the Community Blood Centers. Please consider providing this gift of life as one of your community service projects. The websites are listed below.

American Red Cross may be found here!

Suggestion Box
(It's Actually Working...Just Ask Anne)
Ok...it's actually a form, but it is a form for suggestions with boxes to fill out

Do you have an idea for a future meeting topic or guest speaker? How about a great design for a “Get-out-the-vote” poster? Or maybe you’ve been wanting to present a Powerpoint on redistricting.

Now’s your chance!

Put a suggestion in our suggestion box and you just might have the next great idea that we will share with the state and national organizations. Then, you will be famous.

It all starts by filling out the form and submitting it to our suggestion box here!
